Yahweh's forgotten calender

18.5.12 In this weeks podcast, we look at the use of the calender. We compare the Gregorian Roman calender we live under today and the forgotten calender of the bible. Just as the Gregorian calender outlines its 'Holidays', so Yahweh has outlined his 'Holy Days' in his forgotten calender. While modern Christianity has largely forgotten Yahweh's appointed times, they still exist and are both memorials of events past and prophetic pictures of future events.

    Yahweh's forgotten calender

Almost everyday most of the human family use a calendar. Calendars are used to document busy schedules and appointments that are important and should not be missed. Often life gets so busy that we forget to look at the calendar and realize afterwards that we have missed a real important appointment.

The calendar that we currently use in western culture is the Gregorian calendar. This calendar is a solar based calendar and generally has 365 days per year and occasionally incorporates a leap year. The months have a various number of days etc. The weekly cycle is always 7 days.

The Gregorian calendar, also called the Western calendar and the Christian calendar, is the internationally accepted civil calendar. It was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, by a decree signed on 24 February 1582; the decree, a papal bull, is known by its opening words, Inter gravissimas. The Gregorian calendar is an arithmetical calendar potentially extending over an infinite time scale. It consists of a series of contiguous calendar years identified by consecutive year numbers.

It is a solar calendar and counts days as the basic unit of time, grouping them into years of 365 or 366 days; and repeats completely every 146,097 days, which fill 400 years, and which also happens to be 20,871 seven-day weeks. As I mentioned in an earlier podcast, the prophecy of Daniel 2 teaches us that the kingdom of Rome that has morphed into the Roman Catholic Church is everywhere present in the time of the end. A period denoted by the Image and the ten toes on the image which were a mixture of clay and iron. Iron being the nominative descriptive metal representing the kingdom of Rome.

We are living under a Roman Calendar. You will also notice that the days and months are names after pagan gods. Foe example: Sunday = the day of Sun Worship. Monday = Moon day. January = the god Janus - the doorway god. February = the februa - the month of purification. March = Martius after Mars - the Greek god of war. These gods all form part of pagan worship that we have for the most part unwittingly inherited. We can also see with a casual look at the calendar that there are 'Holidays' marked and set aside.

These 'Holidays' are a time that everyone's is trained to look forward to, I mean after all who does not enjoy a holiday? A break from the routine round of labour and hardship etc. The holidays are a pagan Holy Days, and are times and days set aside for worshiping pagan gods in history. Now I want to focus on Yahweh's calendar. We can see how we have inherited the Roman system of things with their Days, Months and Years and the Holidays etc.In the begriming Yahweh created time. Everything was made by him so it follows that time was something that was created.

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Light = day = openness, righteousness = period of righteousness.

Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Exo 10:23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Exo 27:20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always. Darkness = night = hidden things, deceit, danger = period of sin.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Gen 15:12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

Exo 10:12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.

Exo 10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:

Isa 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Mat 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. We can see that right at the begriming there was division of time. The light represents the period of righteousness. At present we live in the time period of darkness until the time appointed, when all things shall be restored to the original plan. As the above text show..then cometh the end..that is the end of this period of darkness. Then cometh the period of light, more on this later. At creation there was not only night and day as divisions of time but also the lights in heaven were given as signs and seasons.

Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Gen 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Notice verse 14, they were for signs, seasons for days and years. So the Sun, moon and stars were given for signs and seasons. Just as we know it is day when it is day etc. Signs = flag or a beacon Seasons = mo-ade', mo-ade', mo-aw-daw' From H3259; properly an appointment, that is, a fixed time or season; specifically a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); also a signal (as appointed beforehand): - appointed (sign, time), (appointed, due) season, (set) time (appointed). Days = night and day Years = years. Signs.

    Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Mar 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. Seasons. Remember this is 'appointed times.'mo-aw-daw' H3259

Gen 17:21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

Gen 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Gen 21:2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

Exo 9:5 And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.

Exo 13:10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

Exo 23:15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) You will notice that all of the above texts are concerning the time appointed or the set time. These are the times appointed that are embeded in the scriptures that Yahweh has given us. They are his set times, he set them no man can change them. Yahweh's set times - appointed times.

Lev 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts (appointed times) of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. Lev 23:4 These are the feasts (appointed times) of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. (appointed times)

Lev 23:37 These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: So we can see that the feasts or the appointed times are called holy convocations, they are days that are set aside for meeting with Yahweh first and then his people second. Appointed times = holy times.

Just think of it in our western pagan mindset. When we think of Christmas, we (most of the population) think of it as a time of: festivities, family get together, going to church!, time away from work etc.

So if you translate that thought to the reality of truth you can see what the appointed times were meant to mean in a sense. With the exception of drunkeness and wantoness etc.

Psa 104:19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. With Yahweh's calendar it is based upon the moon. The above text shows us that the moon not the sun is the basis upon which Yahweh's calendar operates.

Each month is revealed by the showing of the new moon, this will be revealed more fully as we go one.

Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. The stork knows, the turtle knows, the crane knows but do we know the appointed times?
